Volunteer with Turner Foundation This Summer!
June 30, 10:00 am - August 8 - 2:00 pm
The Turner Foundation’s mission is to lift up others in need. This is carried out through Hopeful Housing. We firmly believe that affordable, supportive, community-based housing is the first step in helping communities grow and thrive. The Turner Foundation’s Hopeful Housing community consists of two apartment communities, the Village and the Lighthouse, where families reside. Additionally, the Turner Foundation operates five homes for at-risk transitional aged youth, the Foundation Houses.Below are three opportunities to get involved in our mission this summer to lift others up, through hopeful housing. Join us!
✦ WAYS TO SUPPORT ✦
1. HELP MAKE SANDWICHES FOR SUMMER CAMP
We’re looking for 8–10 volunteers to help staff prepare sandwiches for our youth summer camp. Join us onsite at the Village on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30–9:15 AM. Volunteers can sign up for specific weeks (2 days/week) throughout the summer.
2. SPONSOR A SUMMER CAMP LUNCH
Food is our biggest camp expense, and free, nutritious lunches help our kids thrive. Sponsor one week of sandwich lunches for $225 (need: 6 sponsors), or a “Fun Friday” special lunch for $175 (need: 5 sponsors). Every bit helps fuel an amazing summer!3.
3. LEAD A LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOP AT THE FOUNDATION HOUSES
Our Foundation Houses provide temporary housing for at-risk young adults (18–24), many transitioning out of foster care or homelessness. These individuals need support in developing key life skills to thrive independently. We’re looking for volunteers to lead one-hour workshops for small groups in areas like budgeting, cooking, job prep, fitness, car maintenance, mental health, personal hygiene, nature outings, or any life skill you’re passionate about sharing.
