"Orange is what red and yellow can do when they combine efforts. If you paint only with red, you will get what only red can do. If you paint only with yellow, you will get what only yellow can do. But when yo paint with red and yellow, you'll get new possibilities, fresh solutions, vibrant outcomes... When you think orange, you see how two combined influences make a greater impact than just two influences." Joiner, Think Orange, p. 23
"In principle, [Think Orange] is about two entities partnering to make a greater impact or to create a better solution. In practice, it explores the possibilities of what can happen if the church and the home combine efforts for the sake of impacting the next generation. For us, the church can be represented with yellow ("bright lights") and families with red ("warm hearts")." Joiner, Think Orange, p. 24

Baby/Child Celebrations
At Ocean Hills we are changing our Baby Celebrations to be more intentional and focused than before in hope that we can have greater impact and partnership with parents. Baby Celebration is an event to celebrate the new addition to your family, but it is also an opportunity for you to take some time at the beginning of your journey as a parent to really think about what will matter the most in the life of your child; to really talk together and decide what you value and what you can do today that will have the greatest impact on your child's future. Here's how you can participate:
- STEP 1: Listen to three mini messages on parenting with your spouse. We have created a resource that we feel will really help you start right now—at the beginning—to do the things that will truly matter the most to you and your child in the future.
- STEP 2: Sign up to participate by emailing Uriah.
- STEP 3: Attend a 30-minute orientation on the morning of June 12th to set the stage and help you understand the Wild Kingdom and why we do what we do.
- STEP 4: Participate in the worship service as we pray for and dedicate your child. Our first celebration is Sunday, June 13, 2010.
- The Jesus Storybook Bible. "The Jesus Storybook Bible" tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the center of the story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David—every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle—the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, "The Jesus Storybook Bible" invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation—and at the center of their story too.

- Family Times (Think Orange p. 72). "Based on Deuteronomy 6:7, we believe these are the four key times all families can leverage to build the faith of their children.
'Impress [these commands] on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.'
- MEAL TIME When You Sit at Home: Focused discussion as a teacher to establish core values.
- DRIVE TIME When You Walk along the Road: Informal dialogue as a friend to help your child interpret life.
- BED TIME When You Lie Down: Intimate converstaion as a counselor to listen to the heart of your child.
- MORNING TIME When You Get Up: Encouraging words as a coach who gives a sense of value and instills purpose."
