Ocean Hills Church had it's first gathering in the backyard of a home in
Hope Ranch on June 8, 1998. We ate together, we shared the dream and vision
together, and we prayed for a mighty move of God's Spirit from "the ocean to
the hills".. And then along with 40 adults from Montecito Covenant Church,
we stepped out in faith to plant Ocean Hills Church in the downtown area of
Santa Barbara.
Our heart has always been to reach out and connect with the next generation!
This adventure of faith required sacrifice, risk, time, hard work, and a
deep commitment to help people across the street and around the world. Since
day one we have embraced the vision to help our community get deeply
connected to Christ, to each other, and to His cause.
Since our grand opening in January 1999, our church has gathered for worship
in a variety of places including: the Veteran's building, Santa Barbara City
College, the Lobero theater, the beach, the Marjorie Luke Theater and the
Loft downtown. Several hundred people now call Ocean Hills home. And it's
only the beginning...
There is nothing like being part of something that is bigger and more
important than you are. I'd like to extend an invitation to anyone looking
for a church home to become part of the next chapter God is writing at Ocean
